At Sacred Heart Pre-School, we pride ourselves on our commitment to support children of all abilities. We prioritize inclusivity, individualised support, and collaboration to create an environment where SEND children can thrive, learn, and reach their full potential.
Our setting has an excellent SENCO - Auntie Clare, who possesses a deep understanding of diverse learning needs, and she collaborates seamlessly with parents, caregivers, outside agencies/professionals and colleagues, fostering a cohesive support network. Her dedication to ongoing professional development ensures that she stays abreast of best practices, creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can flourish.
In Summer 2023, Auntie Clare dedicated some of the summer holidays to creating a sensory shed on site for our children to enjoy.
The sensory shed is a therapeutic setting designed to offer controlled sensory stimulation and relaxation for individuals with sensory processing challenges or special needs. By incorporating visual, auditory, tactile, and proprioceptive elements, these spaces aim to help our children to regulate their sensory experiences, reduce anxiety, and improve focus. The sensory shed provides a safe environment for children to explore and manage sensory sensitivities, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being.
Inclusive childcare represents a comprehensive educational approach that prioritizes tailoring support to each child's distinct needs, abilities, and learning styles. This strategy ensures that every child can actively participate and flourish within the learning environment. To accomplish this we employ staff who are developing their expertise in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through continuous training. Our staff adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning challenges, creating an atmosphere where no child is left behind.
A crucial element of our approach is early intervention, swiftly identifying and addressing developmental concerns to provide timely support. Collaboration with parents, caregivers, and external experts forms a cohesive support network, contributing to a child's comprehensive growth. This teamwork extends into creating an inclusive atmosphere that values diversity, encourages social interactions, and nurtures positive relationships among peers.
Physical accessibility and communication support ensure that children with physical disabilities or speech and language difficulties can actively engage. Emotional and social guidance equips children with vital life skills, enabling them to manage emotions, build relationships, and develop self-assurance. Progress monitoring serves as an ongoing mechanism to track each child's advancement, enabling timely adjustments and involving parents in their educational journey.
