About Us

Our pre-school is based in the heart of Thornton, off Fleetwood Road and on the site of Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School - on Heys Street.

We provide exceptional care for children from their second birthday up until they start primary school.

Although we are based on the site of Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School - we do also provide care to children who will be attending other local primary schools in the area.

The Pre-school Day

A typical preschool day involves a routine of age-appropriate activities for your children. It includes a mix of play-based learning, creative exploration, and group interactions. Mornings will start with a group carpet time, where children are encouraged to engage in our morning songs, we do a register and then children will choose what they would like for lunch that day.  We also use this time for discussions, based on current themes and also whatever the children wish to share!

Throughout the day, there are various learning and play opportunities based on the seven areas of learning in the EYFS, continuous outdoor provision, snack breaks, and also visits to different areas within the school grounds such as the Nature Area and the field.

Key Person Approach

At pre-school we use the key person approach which is a childcare strategy where each child is assigned a specific staff member, the "key person," who acts as a primary caregiver and point of contact. This approach fosters a strong bond between the child, their family, and the caregiver, providing personalized care, support, and a secure base for the child's emotional and social development.

Your child's key person will work in partnership with you to collect information about your child and they will then create what we call a 'Learning Journey' on our online platform Famly. Your child will have a profile, where you will be able to log on, see observations and assessments by their key worker, keep up to date with preschool events by reading posts on the news feed, and also contact members of staff using the messaging service.

Our key groups are:

Auntie Chelsea - Super Strawberries 🍓

Auntie Hannah - Bright Bananas 🍌

Auntie Clare - Brilliant Blueberries 🫐

Auntie Sam - Cool Cucumbers 🥒

Auntie Carly - Terrific Tangerines 🍊
